1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Bibee (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement. Bibee is designed as a family management tool — you may add profiles for children within your family hive, but the account holder must be an adult.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised access. One account covers your entire family — you do not need separate accounts for each family member.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system or data
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or abuse the Service
• Impersonate another person or entity

5. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, and software comprising Bibee is owned by or licensed to us. You retain ownership of the data you enter (events, chores, notes, etc.). You grant us a limited licence to store and process that data solely to provide the Service.

6. AI Features

Bibee uses Google Gemini to power AI features such as Ask Bibee and event extraction from images. AI responses are generated automatically and may not always be accurate. Do not rely on AI-generated content for safety-critical decisions. Your prompts may be processed by Google in accordance with their terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bibee shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal.

1. Data We Collect

• Account data: your name, email address, and hashed password
• Family data: family name, member names and relationships, events, chores, reminders, grocery items, and rewards you create
• Usage data: approximate IP address (for rate limiting), timestamps of actions
• Marketing preference: whether you opted in to receive product updates and newsletters

We do not collect payment information, precise location, or device identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the Service
• To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
• To send product updates and newsletters, if you opted in
• To protect the Service from abuse (rate limiting, bot detection)

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Gemini — AI features (event extraction, Ask Bibee). Prompts you send may be processed by Google.
• Resend — Transactional email delivery
• Cloudflare — DNS, DDoS protection, and Turnstile bot detection on registration
• Amazon Web Services — Server hosting (EU region)

4. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated statistics may be retained indefinitely.

5. Your Rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your data
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — delete your account and all associated data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

6. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (cost 12) and never stored in plain text. All connections use HTTPS. Session tokens are HTTP-only cookies. We apply rate limiting and bot detection to protect your account.

Cookies We Set

No Tracking or Advertising Cookies

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party tracking or advertising cookies. Your browsing behaviour on Bibee is not shared with advertisers.

Managing Cookies

Because all cookies we set are strictly necessary for the Service to function, disabling them will prevent you from logging in or using Bibee. You can clear cookies at any time via your browser settings, which will log you out.

Most browsers allow you to view and delete cookies under Settings → Privacy → Cookies.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and obtain your consent before setting them.
